Q Exactly what is Emmaus?.

Emmaus is a passive Catholic retreat weekend dàsigned for men who seek to improve their personal relationship with Christ. Although Emmaus is a Lay Ministry, all our activities are approved of by the Parish. The men of Emmaus who will be serving you that weekend are regular, non-clergy, members of our Parish. Their reasons for serving have nothing to do with wanting to appear holy to others or any special theological knowledge, but rather a desire to have other men benefit from how Christ has impacted their varied and imperfect lives. Our experience, and that of many others who have attended the Retreat, is that the Emmaus experience can help make men better husbands, better fathers and better persons. The men of Emmaus serving you that weekend will not try to convince anyone of any particular belief. We simply seek to share our experiences with you and let you draw your own conclusions.

Q. How do they go about doing this?

You will hear a series of talks by other men concerning their own experiences with the Lord. No Retreatant is required to disclose personal information during the weekend. As a retreatent you will not be asked to speak in front of the group but there will be opportunities for you to express yourself if you choose to. Feel free to talk to any of the men serving during the weekend about anything you would like to discuss.

Q. How long does this weekend last?

The Retreat begins Friday at 5:00 pm and concludes Sunday at about 4:00 pm. We then meet later that Sunday for the 5:00 pm Mass.
Q. How do I dress for the weekend?

Casual and comfortable; shorts, sandals, or anything you like. Please remember to bring a sweater as you may get cold. Also, please bring a pair slacks to attend the Sunday mass.

Q. What should I bring?

• Bath towel, comfortable clothing for 2. days
• Personal effects (deodorant, toothpaste, soap, toothbrush, medicines, etc.)
• A pillow, sheets and blanket Q. How about food?

All food will be provided — as well as any special dietary requirements, just let us know on the application form or when you arrive for the weekend.

Q. How much does Emmaus cost?

We request $150 donation from each retreatent to help cover the costs of putting on the Retreat. However, many men who have not been in a position to pay the donation have attended the Retreat. jt is our mostfer~tt hope 1~ no one should fail to attend the Retreat due to financial reasons. If thiN is the case please speak to the person who invited you to attend the retreat.
